Ellen DeGeneres is set to host the Academy Awards for a second time, returning to the role after a successful hosting slot in 2007.
Producers have confirmed DeGeneres' selection as host, saying they are "thrilled" to have the talk show star return to the job.
"We are thrilled to have Ellen DeGeneres host the Oscars," said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron in a statement.
"As a long-time friend, we had always hoped to find a project for us to do together and nothing could be more exciting than teaming up to do the Oscars.
"There are few stars today who have Ellen's gift for comedy, with her great warmth and humanity.
Seth MacFarlane’s performance drew mixed reviews this year
"She is beloved everywhere and we expect that the audience at the Dolby Theatre, and in homes around the globe, will be as excited by this news as we are."
DeGeneres was nominated for an Emmy Award for her 2007 performance.
This year's host, Seth MacFarlane, drew mixed reviews for his performance.
He had already taken himself out of the running for a return engagement next year.
DeGeneres said: "I am so excited to be hosting the Oscars for the second time. You know what they say – the third time's the charm."
The Oscars will be held on March 2.
