My client Primary School is looking for a considerate and intelligent Psychology Graduate to work as a LSA for an inclusive Maidstone Secondary School.
You will work alongside the SENCO and other LSAs in a new, purpose built SEN unit. The unit works in tandem with the Class Teachers to provide additional support in the key subjects of Maths and English. The children will spend the majority of time in the mainstream school where you, the LSA, will spend a portion of your time understanding the needs of the SEN children. You will then spend the majority of your time with these children in the unit to bring them up to speed in their individual areas of focus.
My client Secondary School's Special Education Need Unit supports children with one or more of the following disabilities: Autism; Hearing or Visual Impairment; Physical Disability; Speech & Language problems or Specific Learning Difficulties. The SENCO has over 10 years experience supporting children in the school and they are very proud that the excellent new unit has been finished and is ready for next year's school year. The SENCO will take you under their arm and fully inform you of each child's needs so that you are fully prepared and ready to give the best assistance possible.
The school has a higher than average number of statemented children. It has a very supportive team of parents, staff and Governors that have worked very hard to improve the status of the school. My client Head Teacher has made great strides to improve attainment levels for English and Maths and the level of teaching is continually improving. Children's behaviour is generally good and the school has a general feel of positivity running through the place.
The School is situated in the heart of Kent and is easily reached via rail or road. Parking is free.
